perfection vs passion (for musicians/artists)
If you like my music and some do (thank you) you don't like it because its perfect. You like it because it is imperfect and passionate. If I were to hit you with a brick in the back of the head do you think you would stop to consider my technique? No the impact would probably be sufficient. During the outro of free on my myspace page do you think people (who like it) are stopping to say "oh that is a Stitt lick oh that is superimposition oh that is a composite scale"?. Do you really think people are saying during things I do for love(if they like it)"oh he could have done this here or there"? No they simply feel the passion behind what I was trying to do,and appreciate it. As musicians we get so caught up in trying to be perfect we forget to be human. The best music in my opinion is/was never perfect but it always has/had passion. If given a choice between passion and perfection give me passion any day. lest we forget.....
