patience and musicianship

Let the music come to you. Do not react impulsively, wait for the opportunity. The moment will reveal itself; patience and preparation allow you to express yourself with relaxed conviction. When forcing the pace out of fear or impatience you create a set of other problems that require your attention. Once your attention is split relaxation and confidence become compromised. Musical acrobats might get the attention for a short while but they will eventually become boring and play out. When you wait and slow down the music speaks to you in ways that you may have never considered. When you control your expression you control the expression of others making for a much more complete experience for your band and audience. Uncluttered you are able to see and hear options that would never have presented themselves to you had you been rushing and/or not prepared.

Keep it soulful
